Tomato Chutney

Ingredients:
Tomatoes ( 3 Big )
Peanuts ( 1/2 cup )
Red chillies ( 2-3 )
Salt to taste
Cumin seeds (1/2 tsp)
Garlic ( 2 pieces )
Turmeric (1/4 tsp)
Oil ( 3tsp )
Mint or cilantro (1 cup)

Procedure:



  • Cut 3 Tomatoes in to small pieces.
  • Take a pan add 1 tsp oil ,peanuts,cumin seeds, red chillies for 2 mins and keep it aside.
  • In the same pan add 2 tsps oil,Tomatoes, turmeric , Salt to taste and crushed garlic.
  • Fry them for 5 mins,till tomatoes are cooked.
  • Add all the contents , mint or cilantro in the blending jar and grind them well.
  • Garnish with cilantro or mint, goes well with Rice & Dosa.

Capsicum Pulav




Ingredients:
Rice ( 2 cups)
Green Capsicum ( 1/2)
Red Capsicum ( 1/2)
Yellow Capsicum ( 1/2)
Onion ( 1 )
Bay leaves ( 2 )
Mint (1/2 cup)
Cloves 2-3
Cinnamon 1 inch stick
Cardamom 2-3
Ginger garlic paste ( 1/2 tsp)
Salt to taste
Cashew nuts (10-12)
Pulav masala ( 1 tsp)

Preparation:

  • Soak basmathi rice in water for 10-15 mins.
  • Take a pan add 2-3 tsp oil,cloves , cinnamon , cardamon , bay leaves,onion and saute until onions are golden brown.
  • Add ginger garlic paste , Green capsicum, Red Capsicum, Yellow Capsicum, Mint,Cashew nuts,Salt to taste,Pulav masala cook for 2-3 mins.
  • Then drain out the water from the rice and add the rice and cook for 2 mins then transfer into rice cooker.
  • Add 3 cups of water ( 1:11/2 ratio ) and cook till done.
  • Capsicum Pulav is ready to serve.

Apple Halwa

Ingredients:

Apples ( 4 )
Milk ( 1 cup )
Sugar ( 1 cup )
Elachi powder (cardamom)
Almonds sliced (7-8)
Ghee ( 2 tbsps )

Preparation:

  • Grate the apples and keep them aside.
  • Heat 2tbsp ghee in a frying pan and add apples to it and fry for 3-5 mins,stir continuously so that bottom is not burnt.
  • Add Milk to it and boil till thick, stir occasionally add elachi powder.
  • Once it starts thickening, stir continuously.Add sugar and cook till it thickens. Mix a pinch of yellow color in water and add it (optional ).
  • In a separate pan add 1tsp ghee and fry the sliced almonds till they are golden brown.
  • Add almonds to the apple mixture stir on low heat for 2-3 mins.
  • Apple Halwa is ready to serve.

Ganesh Chaturthi ( Vinayaka Chavithi )


Ganesh Chaturthi (Vinayaka Chavithi) is a festival dedicated to Lord Ganesha,This festival is celebrated by hindus around the world as the birthday of Lord Ganesh.
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in the month of August/September.
This festival is celebrated for 10 days ,On the first day Ganesh idol is placed in colorfully decorated homes and specially erected temporary structures mandapas in every locality. The mandaps are erected by the people or a specific society or locality or group by collecting monetary contributions.Puja is performed on everyday to pay due respect to lord ganesha.

On the last day the statue is taken through the streets in a procession accompanied with dancing, singing, and fanfare to be immersed in a river or the sea symbolizing a ritual see-off of the Lord in his journey towards his abode in Kailash while taking away with him the misfortunes of his devotees, this is the ritual known as Ganesh Visarjan.

Lord Vinayaka is said to be fond of “Kudumulu” which are mainly prepared from rice flour.This dish is prepared as Naivedyam to Lord Ganesha on the day of festival.
Pulihora (Lemon Rice)is prepared on the last day of Ganesh chaturdhi and distributed as Prasadam to everyone.

Plain Kudumulu


This is Ganesh Chaturthi (Vinayaka Chavithi) festival Spl, dedicated to Lord Ganesha.Lord Vinayaka is said to be fond of “Kudumulu” which are mainly prepared from rice flour.This dish is prepared as Naivedyam to Lord Ganesha on the day of festival.


Ingredients:
Rice Flour
Hot water
Salt
Preparation :
  • Take 1 cup of rice flour in a bowl and mix it slowly with hot water add 1/2 tsp of salt.
  • With the dough prepare small patties and cook them in cooker for 20 mins,Serve hot .
  • Plain kudumulu goes well with Tomato chutney.

Kudumulu


Ingredients:

Rice Flour (1 1/2 cups)

Green Chilly paste (1/2 tsp)

Salt to taste

Chikkudu ginjalu (papdi lilva 1/2 cup)

Spring Onion (finely chopped)

Cilantro (chopped)

Preparation:

In large bowl, mix rice flour,green chilly paste,salt,papdi lilva,spring onion and cilantro with warm water.

Make them into small patties.

Steam them in pressure cooker like you make idli.

It goes very well with Oil.

Lemon Rice(Pulihora)



Ingredients:
Rice(1 Cup)
Lime Juice(2-3)
Red chillies(2-3)
Green Chillies(2-3)
Mustard seeds
Cumin seeds
Peanuts
Chana dal (soak in water)
Curry Leaves
Turmeric powder
Salt to taste

Preparation :
  • Take one cup of rice add 2 cups of water and cook it.
  • After the rice is cooked take it in wide bowl and let it cooldown.
  • Add the lemon juice ,Turmeric powder and salt( to taste ) to the rice.
  • Take a pan add 2 tbs of oil add Cumin seeds,Mustard seeds,Turmeric powder,Curry leaves,Red chillies,Green Chillies ,soaked Chana dal and Peanuts in the same order and cook it for 2 mins and add the tadka to the rice.
